Last Wednesday, 26 April, the Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the Italian Republic Stefano Ronca received at the Embassy for a working lunch the President of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Commission of the Senate of the Italian Republic Senator Stefania Craxi.

In a friendly atmosphere, the Senator visited the Villa and the gardens. The visit gave the opportunity to show the restorations carried out in the Church of Santa Maria del Piranesi and in the Embassy, as well illustrate the renovation work on the Order’s premises on the Lungotevere destined to assist people in need.

The conversation focused on geopolitical issues with particular attention to the humanitarian aspects arising from the suffering that the current war in Ukraine is causing to the civilian population. The Sovereign Order of Malta’s senior government officials outlined the Order’s numerous humanitarian initiatives at a global level and the relief corps’ commitment in Ukraine and neighbouring countries to assist refugees and displaced people by conflict.
